The International Lebanese University (LIU) bases its academics on the American academic system. Currently, each curriculum is based on a certain number of credit-hours. The academic status is based on the Grade Point Average (GPA) of the student. Each student receives one of the following statuses according to their cumulative GPA.

3.50 - 4.00 |

Full-time students are students who are taking a minimum of 12 credits per semester. After the student has passed 20 credits and has received a GPA below 2, they will be set on probation and will have to refer to their adviser to register for their courses. They will also only be allowed to register for 12 credits. Moreover, if after completing 12 credits in his/her major, a student’s average in the major courses is less than 2.00, the student will be placed on school probation, regardless of his cumulative average. A student may be suspended from their major after consecutive probation, leading them to a change of major request.
